Is a perfect society possible or even desirable?
The topic of this essay was not very descriptive on what a “perfect” society might be. To add some clarification, here is the essay prompt that came with the topic:
“Many people argue that it is impossible to create a perfect society because humanity itself is imperfect and any attempt to create such a society leads to the loss of individual freedom and identity. Therefore, they say, it is foolish to even dream about a perfect society. Others, however, disagree and believe not only that such a society is possible but also that humanity should strive to create it.”
Before the fall, our perfect Creator made things perfect. But after man sinned, he fell short of the glory of God and was separated from Him. At the same moment, sin entered the world; and so did death. Therefore, a perfect world is impossible…until the new Kingdom.
But is a perfect society possible? Maybe. They must follow God’s instructions; and if they do, they will have success. However, throughout history, people have failed to keep His commands; and unfortunately, history tends to repeat itself. So, yes. Maybe it is possible to have a perfect society – for a month! The longer things go, the easier it might get…or the more tense and populated until it was worse than before!
Is a perfect society desirable? Yes, absolutely! However, until the only just King’s return it’s just not probable! Why it wouldn’t be desirable, I don’t know.
In conclusion, a perfect society is both possible and desirable…but not probable. We can wish all we want, and yet it will likely prove useless or maybe even idle.
